Castlethorpe Cricket Club

Castlethorpe cricket club continues a tradition dating back to the beginning of the 20th Century. The club has primarily offered village people the opportunity to play cricket initially on a friendly basis in very pleasant rural surroundings with wonderful views overlooking Castle Field and out towards Hanslope.

The cricket square is regarded as one of the best in the area and our outfield has the potential to be the same.

This season the club is competing in the South Northants Premiership on Saturdays, along with a number of friendly end-of-season fixtures. A full  list of fixtures is available on the Club’s website at www.castlethorpecricketclub.co.uk.

All home fixtures are displayed during the week prior to the match on the notice board next to the main gate in Thrupp Close.

The Cricket Club always encourages new members and players, young, and not so young, with all abilities welcome. Please contact :
Russell Jones (Club Captain) 07474 826657,
David Spinelli (Chairman) 07889 215786 or
Stewart Tate(President) 07976 267630

The Club is looking for an umpire to stand during home league games — no qualifications are required, just a cricketing knowledge e.g rules and signals. Please contact one of the above if interested.

FC Castlethorpe

FC Castlethorpe Youth were formed in 2016 with the intention of providing opportunities for local children to play football in a safe, fun environment. We train and play home matches at Castlethorpe Sports Ground, Thrupp Close, Castlethorpe MK19 7PL.

The first season saw us field four sides in local leagues. We now have multiple teams at various age groups for girls and boys.

Find out more about the club at www.fccastlethorpeyouth.co.uk

The club is an integral part of the Castlethorpe Sports Association who manage the sports ground on behalf of the Parish Council.

FC Castlethorpe Youth were instrumental in helping the Parish Council gain support and funding from the Calor Rural Community Fund to increase the car parking at the home ground. This amazing support brought benefits including:
• Removing the problem of parking in nearby residential streets
• A safe environment for parents to park and allow their children to make their way safely to/from the playing pitches~
• Benefiting the local community when other local events are held at the playing fields.

We are a FA Charter Standard Club. The FA Charter Standard Programme is The FA’s accreditation scheme open to all grassroots clubs and leagues. It aims to raise standards in the grassroots game, supporting the development of clubs and leagues, recognising and rewarding commitment, quality and achievement. One of the minimum standards of FA Charter Standard status is that all teams must be coached by at least a FA Level One coach. All coaches must also have in date criminal records checks in place.

Latest news

Playing on Saturday mornings from August to May, the committee, managers and parents have continued to provide their time and effort on a volunteer basis to ensure we have one of the best facilities in the county and playing pitches – with tasks ranging from grass cutting, litter picking, line marking and general support making the area a source of pride in the village and to visiting teams, from whom we receive regular positive feedback.

In addition, we would like to thank our team sponsors - without whom we would struggle to operate. We would also like to pass our thanks to the village and Parish Council for their support through the season.

We regularly have a coffee van with us on Saturday mornings and we would welcome any village support during the football season.

Tennis courts

Where else can you play a game of tennis with a scheduled ancient monument to one side, endless fields the other and the odd sheep cheering you on!?

We currently have two floodlit full size tennis courts located on the Sports Field. To encourage use of the tennis courts for the residents, we are setting memberships at a competitive rate of £40 a year per household.

Please email castlethorpetennis@gmail.com for further information on memberships and visit our Facebook Page (opens in new window) for regular updates.

In addition to the membership, we also run a number of coaching sessions for children and adults.

Castlethorpe Short Mat Bowls Club

We meet every Wednesday and Friday from 7.15pm at the Village Hall all year round. We welcome visitors to come and meet the members to join in or even watch and have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat.

There is no need to have your own bowls as the club has sets to use and members are willing to lend their bowls while learning. We play in friendly and competition matches and those very keen members enter into County matches. We also have our own in-house competitions.

Castlethorpe Bowls Club is not about competitions as several members come for the social side and to meet other people.
