Castlethorpe Cricket Club

Castlethorpe cricket club continues a tradition dating back to the beginning of the 20th Century. The club has primarily offered village people the opportunity to play cricket initially on a friendly basis in very pleasant rural surroundings with wonderful views overlooking Castle Field and out towards Hanslope.

The cricket square is regarded as one of the best in the area and our outfield has the potential to be the same.

We are looking to strengthen our squad to build on last season’s success. We play 40 over matches on Saturdays and mid-week T20 cup matches in the SNCL and we arrange friendly matches on Sundays to encourage the development of current and new cricketers within the club.

FC Castlethorpe

FC Castlethorpe Youth were formed in 2016 with the intention of providing opportunities for local children to play football in a safe, fun environment. We train and play home matches at Castlethorpe Sports Ground, Thrupp Close, Castlethorpe MK197PL. The first season (2016-17) saw us field four sides in local leagues. For the 2019-2020 season we are fielding seven sides at the following age groups;
U15 Girls
U14 Boys
U13 Boys
U12 Girls
U12 Boys
U9 Girls
U9 Boys.
The club is an integral part of the Castlethorpe Sports Association who manage the sports ground on behalf of the parish council. FC Castlethorpe Youth were instrumental in gaining support and funding from the Calor Rural Community Fund to increase the car parking at the home ground. This amazing support brought benefits including:
• Removing the problem of parking in nearby residential streets
• A safe environment for parents to park and allow their children to make their way safely to/from the playing pitches
• Benefiting the local community when other local events are held at the playing fields.
We have recently applied to become an FA Charter Standard Club. The FA Charter Standard Programme is The FA’s accreditation scheme open to all grassroots clubs and leagues. It aims to raise standards in the grassroots game, supporting the development of clubs and leagues, recognising and rewarding commitment, quality and achievement. One of the minimum standards of FA Charter Standard status is that all teams must be coached by at least a FA Level One coach. All coaches must also have in date criminal records checks in place.

Castlethorpe Short Mat Bowls Club

We meet every Wednesday and Friday from 7.15pm at the Village Hall all year round. We welcome visitors to come and meet the members to join in or even watch and have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat.

There is no need to have your own bowls as the club has sets to use and members are willing to lend their bowls while learning. We play in friendly and competition matches and those very keen members enter into County matches. We also have our own in-house competitions.

Castlethorpe Bowls Club is not about competitions as several members come for the social side and to meet other people.
